Moving on
Getting ready to leave my current work place this Friday, which is kinda sad, but then again exciting because I’ll be heading to a brand new job, change of career path yet again! How crazy. I feel as though I have become an expert at unpacking, adjusting, learning new skills, settling, making new friends, applying old skills to new things, then unsettling, packing, then heading out the door to a new field of opportunity.
Farewell to these guys ...
Today at lunch time I went for a run with two of the young lawyers I work with… my last run while working in the same work place with them. They really pushed me hard today we went much further than if I had gone alone – up the ever so steep Mount St and through the meandering fragrant trails in Kings Park, stopping for some pushups and dips before heading to Jacobs Ladder – I was absolutely stuffed by that time we got there, so I had to wait at the top trying to catch my breath while my gung ho mates climbed away! One thing I am glad to leave is the extremely open facilities associated with this work place. There are seven floors of offices that overlook the tennis court, pool and spa, which seem to be lined with faces pushed up against the windows when you take a dip… and the extroverted change rooms, where other woman make comments about your figure, skin, etc…. as you make the mad dash to and from the showers, where you can only take a towel in. The last thing I really want is to hear feedback about how I look starkers! Crikey, just let me get dressed as fast as I can. I think I have set a new record for getting dressed quickly! I am grateful I never had any clothes stolen.
I guess the greatest part of moving around so much is having this list of amazing people to call for coffee during the day, contact links to all sorts of information …. and then if you get stuck in an awful work place, you have a greater chance of escaping because they can offer advice and throw you life lines. It is funny though just how few Christians I have come across, despite going into so many different work places. How do I know? … cos I ask most people if they believe in God and my heart breaks so often when I hear their replies.
